Phrasal verbs

I have questions. Please reply.

1. Is there a difference between 'stay up' and 'sit up'?

2. I think 'stay up late' is correct, but is it correct to say 'sit up late'? If correct, is 'to stay up late' is the same with 'to sit up late?

3. cheer for/cheer on/root for the team

Are the three phrasal verbs the same meaning?

I'd appreciate it if you could give me answer.

Juniper Kim 1354 cheer for/cheer on/root for the team

'cheer on' is a phrasal verb.

cheer the team on; cheer on || the team; cheer them on

I would not call 'cheer for' or 'root for' phrasal verbs. 'for' is an ordinary preposition there.

cheer the team for; cheer || for the team; cheer them for
