Are this sentences correct?

- I would like to get out of doing the household chores but I don't know how.
- I should go down to studying, if I don't I won´t pass the final exam.

Kanou Are these sentences correct? I'm not sure that you need the definite article in #1, but it's not grammatically wrong. A comma before "but" wouldn't hurt.

I always tend to do too long sentences without any stops. I think I have a little problem with punctuation :/
