Phrasal verb cut somebody off

Hi There:

Is the following sentence grammatically correct “My son cut off our connection”referring to a telephone conversation?

Thanks in advance for your time and your kind attention to my question.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

It's grammatically correct, but I can't imagine how he managed to do it. Did he trip over a cord and accidentally pull it out of the wall outlet? Happy Holidays to you too.

Hi CalifJim:

Thanks for your answer;
I believe it is more or less like you mention it. The original sentence is:
"I'm so sorry. My son was playing with the phone and broke our connection."

Thanks
