Hi everyone! I would like to get the meaning of this sentence"Phonology is about the underlying design, the blueprint of the sound type, that serves as the constant basis of all the variations in different physical articulation of the sound type in different contexts"Thank you in advance.

Perhaps you'll understand it better if you remember that the phonological symbol for a phoneme represents a range of sounds. This is in contrast to tp phonetic symbols, which represent precisely one clearly defined sound.

Thank you so much, I have another questions concerning phonology. I've found that a syllable must contain a vowel or vowel like. How could that be possible? I thought that the nucleus of a syllable is only a vowel no! also I found that there are two kinds of phonetic transcription:a phonemic transcription and an allophonic transcription. Is that correct? because

While syllables normally contain a vowel, such expressions as mmm, psst, sh, etc, can be considered as syllables.
