00I have no idea what exactly you mean by phonics programs, but learning phonetic symbols is important to be able to "read" or "write" how a word is pronounced. You have to know the vowels (sounds), and then connect every sound with a symbol. Not everyone uses the same set of symbols, so it might be confusing if you don't know exactly what a certain symbol means when used b
