[PHONETICS] IPA OR AHD ?

Hello everyone,

Commonly, I realize that people whom I've met primarily use 44 sounds in IPA in pronunciation. However, I have just found that there's another way to transcribe the sounds, which is in AHD.

For instance:

-take /teik/ (IPA)

- take (tak) (AHD)

So if you have ever experienced the two ways, which one do you think that is easier to follow?
