please please ........can anuone of you elaborate the difference between phonetics and phenology..with some of examples ?

phonetics relates to sounds.

phenology relates to the study of plants and animals.

Perhaps you mean 'phonology': the study of the sound system of a given language and the analysis and classification of its phonemes.

Phonology is the study of language sound systems, and phonetics has more to do with how the sounds are produced and represented, I think.

Phonetics and Phonology are two very closely related aspects of spoken linguistics, and the distinction comes from the level of abstraction to which you wish to refer. I studied linguistics for three years, and even after that the distinction between phonology and phonetics is a little difficult to understand! I will do my best

Phonology, in linguistic terms, refers to the the sound system of a language, and the way sounds function within a language, particularly when it comes to meaning. It is often considered on an abstract level, dealing with concepts in the mind.

Phonetics, in linguistic terms, refers to the physical 'noises' of a sound - it looks at articulation, acoustic proerties, and other tangible, measureable qualities of human speech.

For example, the difference between a typical British and American person's pronunciation of 'city' is an issue of phonetics -- an British person would most likely pronounce it 'ciTy', whereas the 't' sound for American speakers sounds more like a 'd' (it's semi-technical name being a 'tapped r'). This is an example of a difference in physical pronunciation and has nothing to do with the meaning of the word, so is therefore related to phonetics rather than phonology.
