Phone up

Could you please tell me the most natural way of saying the following sentences in English?

Imagine a boy receives a phone call from his platonic love.

I am the happiest because the person who's got the cutest voice on this planet has phoned me up. Yay!

I am the happiest because I had a phone call from somebody who's got the cutest voice in this world a few minutes ago. Yay!

In AmEng, we don't say pho ne up ; we use phone , call or call up . I'll phone you tomorrow, I'll call you (up) tomorrow . Of your two sentences above, the second is by far the more natural to my ear.
