Hi teachers,

Are both possible when answering a phone

a) May I know who is calling?

b) May I ask who is calling?

Both are possible. We also often just say 'Who is calling, please?'

I prefer Clive, 'Who is calling, please?'

a) May I know who is calling?
b) May I ask who is calling?

When I hear a or b I'll most probably say, no you may not, and hang up
