What are the formal ways to mean "hang up the phone / get off the phone, etc"?

In terms of formality, "Please hang up" seems OK to use in pretty much any situation.

"Please get off the phone" is quite abrupt, or even rude.

In the old days we use to say "Please replace/put down the receiver", but I don't know if that really works now.
