PhD program

I am planning in registering in a PhD program about English linguistics or grammar. Before applying they are requesting a thesis proposal for the PhD. I am facing problems with finding a topic so I can write the proposal. Could you please help me find a topic for this. Thanks very much

Well, in fact I am thinking of writing something based on the pronunciation of the english words in Europe and America but I am not quite sure how can I formulate the topic. Another alternative I was thinking of is the importance of the English Phonetics considered more important than spelling or pronunciation. The third one I am thinking of is the English effect of the English language in another
