PhD inquiry

Hi,
I'm planning to sent email to a Porfessor to ask if he would accept me as a PhD candidate in his lab. Could any one please read my this letter and correct me if I'm wrong somewhere. Thanks a lot in advance.
Dear Dr. ,

I am a Master student in Mathematics at ... University in Germany and am working with Dr. ... I also have a bachelor degree in Computer Science from .. University of in India where, the undergraduate admission is limited to the top 1 percent of students who pass the national entrance exam.

Tentatively I would be finishing my Master by end of October. I am interested in finding out if there are available PhD vacancies at your lab in the near future.

My main areas of research interest are Computational Neuroscience such as statistical analysis of Neuronal data, Neural networks, Graph theory, non-linear dynamical systems and time series analysis. Through out my Master I have been mostly working on statistical analysis of spike trains and I wrote my thesis on ... However, I'm also very interested in Graph theory and its application in analysis of changes in brain structural and functional connectivity in Alzheimer's disease, Schizophrenia, Autism and etc…

Having said about my main areas of research interest, I should also mention that above all of these, what fascinates me most is to have a specific question in my mind and try to solve it. Honestly, the topic of the question is not my first concern. I'd simply enjoy tackling with a question/problem days and nights (and even sometimes dream of it at night) until I'll find the answer .

I am attaching my CV and Master's thesis to this email. I would be really happy if you will consider me for a PhD candidate at your lab.

Please feel free to contact me if you need some other information. I am eagerly looking forward to hear from you.

Warmest Regards,

My experience is that just sent your CV and briefly introduce yourself and summarize what's shown in CV. Just emphasis your background and experience match with his/her research. It is not necessary to write a long letter. I got no response sending a long letter. But I sent my CV and do the trick above, I got two response from professors.
