Phd candidate

What does PHD candidate mean exactly? it describes a person who is studying PHD right now or some one who is candidate to take admission in PHD degree?

Hi Jaleh, Since I don't hold a PhD, I had to look up some information myself. As I had initially thought, a PhD candidate is someone who has fulfilled all of the requirements to receive a PhD except for the PhD dissertation. edu/blog/2017/Alison_L/blog1 DJB
