I am writing to apply for the PhD position in XXXX.
I have done my MSc in Finance fromXXX University and graduated with an award merit. I also have a bachelor of Finance. My scholastic records on my undergraduate as well as postgraduate are ranked in the top 5%. In particular my records on Econometrics are outstanding.
The master study has developed my ability to deal with database with statistic software. After receiving abundant of training in a module called XXX , I became familiar with operations on Stata. In order to complete my dissertation, I learned how to manipulate R to operate certain functions which cannot be realized in Stata. The technical skill makes it possible for me to take advantage of empirical methods to deal with data and build sophisticated models. I am sure such skills can benefit the future study and research.
My master’s study proves that I am absolutely capable of undertaking a further research. My dissertation is a research based on a novel methodology called anchoring vignettes. In the dissertation I developed a chopit model to eliminate the influence caused by scale differences among different respondents. The estimation result was appreciated by supervisor and the dissertation was valued as a very good dissertation.
After completing my postgraduate study, I am eager to continue my study leading to a PhD. I am looking for an opportunity where I cannot only apply my theoretical knowledge and empirical skills, but more importantly, extend my knowledge in this area. I am sure the PhD position inXXX is a perfect opportunity to realize my dream. I am a diligent people and will cherish every opportunity.
