pharmaceuticals themselves

Dear all,

I would like to know if the following sentence is correct:

"Furthermore, attention is paid to pharmaceuticals themselves."

meaning that only pharmaceuticals are investigated, e.g. their effects, side efects etc.

I just wanted to know if the use of "themselves" would be correct. The article in question deals with pharmaceuticals advertising. But it also investigates pharmaceuticles themselves.

In your context I think it is fine. I used the same form in a reply I posted yesterday, where I wished to make it clear I was referring to the eyelashes (themselves), not the shadows of the eyelashes.
