Pets ....

I'd like to know whether we use "it" or he/she for pets .I've often found it confusing Emotion: geeked

In my experience the vast majority of people refer to pets using "he/she" and not "it."

We use 'he' or 'she', as our pet is close to us.

I think it is the love for our pet rather the respect s/he deserves.

People commonly refer to their own pets as 'he' or 'she'. But it's not uncommon to refer to someone else's pet as 'it', particularly when the *** is not known to the speaker. That's if the pet's owner is not a party to the conversation.

Same thing with babies.
