I have chosen to apply to ..., because I particularly like the bench to bedside approach of the programme. Translational research is my passion, and I firmly believe, that this programme, that aims to translate new laboratory findings into the clinic to directly improve patient outcomes, suits me perfectly. Furthermore, I would like to carry out my PhD at the ..., because it is one of the ..'s most internationally distinguished universities in the cancer research field. Also, as I am a nature lover, I like the fact that the .... is located in one of the most beautiful regions of the .., near fantastic natural environments. However, the most important reason, why I would like to do my PhD at the ... is that this particular PhD program, named .... fascinates me. I am persuaded that this PhD programme is ideal for me, given that ... are two topics extremely compelling for me.


Based on my overall curriculum and my personality, I consider that I could successfully complete this PhD. I am hard-working and I love studying, something that is proven by my scores during my medical studies and by the multiple scholarships that I was awarded. Also, I am persistent and I demonstrate a strong sense of commitment. Through my medical and research journey, I have realised that I love answering whys and devoting time and effort for the sake of medical research with purpose to contribute to the scientific knowledge and to patients’ lives. I am an avid supporter of the opinion that when there is passion, there is always a way to success- so, in my case, since I have passion about this PhD project, I believe that I will successfully complete it.


After my PhD, I am planning to do my residency in .... My goal is to become a physician-scientist, combing clinical work with basic and clinical research. I love both the innovative and creative aspect of research and the direct and tactile participation in clinical medicine. Unfortunately, undoubtedly, in ..., research in ... is underfunded and research facilities are not so advanced. Therefore, doing my PhD at the ... is a unique opportunity, it is a chance to broaden my horizons, to learn research techniques and meet prominent scientists. This would be very difficult in Greece. Besides, my plan is to return in Greece and spread my knowledge to my colleagues and to try my best to implement the skills that I will have acquired.
