Personal Statement UCAS

Hello!! Can someone look at my personal statement for business please and tell me if there are any gramatic errors?? thanku very much

‘Let’s create something new, something so revolutionary it will shock, inspire and motivate the world to buy it’. These words have always pushed me to achieve greater things. I want to study a degree that will help me accomplish three objectives: it will give me access to the best education possible on how to handle key economic problems, train me as an entrepreneur and teach me to transform my ideas into projects.

I have always had and entrepreneurial spirit. When I was ten, I collected rocks, painted them and sold them as decoration essentials. At twelve, I progressed and created necklaces with silver crosses, which I sold in my school. They became very trendy. At fifteen, I decided to participate in the ‘Young Entrepreneur Competition’ in my school, where as a group we created a mug with multiple features (it had an electric mixer inside of it). The idea was great but unfortunately too difficult for a group of 15 years old to successfully develop. I also joined the national competition ‘Young Business Talent’, where by using a business simulator we had to make our own enterprise succeed. This was a big step for me, where I had to apply my leadership and team working skills to carry out group decisions in order to maximise our profit. We made it to the semi-finals. After this experience, I decided to use this knowledge and delved into the real business world by developing my own business. I used and demonstrated creativity and entrepreneurship by launching an Instagram fashion shop (.revolution). We had 100 pieces of clothes and jewellery. It gave me an insight into the business world, and I became aware of how much I had learnt throughout my previous experiences and used it to achieve my objectives. It grew so fast that after two years I had to close it down, as it was too time consuming. Recently I read ‘Amancio Ortega: de Cero a Zara’, a book exposing the secrets to Amancio Ortega´s professional journey. It helped me a lot to understand the hard work it requires to build a big enterprise and the ideal mind set to match.

Outside my academic interests, I am involved in the local community where I teach English, Maths and Physics to children. Preparing different learning techniques for the different ages helps me to learn how to motivate them. While I was preparing my classes, I read about the impact of cyber bullying on kids. This encouraged me to join a 'Hackathon' where as a group we designed a mobile application against cyber bullying. I also volunteered in a nursing home, where I greatly improved my communication skills. I support the 'Down Syndrome Foundation' of Madrid where I help in the activities they organise; which gives me a lot of satisfaction and also helps my team working skills. Two years ago I joined a flamenco school, where every year we do a show to raise money for the Spanish Red Cross. We also visit nursing homes during Christmas time to perform our dances. All of these activities have helped me develop my time management skills.

This year I decided to take a gap year. During my gap year I am going to Paris with the objective of returning fluent in French. As well, I also planning to volunteer in Africa, teaching Maths and English to children. Furthermore, I am doing online courses to become an expert in PowerPoint and Excel, and to learn more about Machine Learning. I am planning on working in a shop and as a waitress in between.
