Personal statement for Westminster University, faculty of Media, art and Designe

please, help me to improve it. today is the last day((

«Open your eyes and shut your mouth» - these words became for me the key of my profession.
During the past three years, I`ve been studying photojournalism at Moscow State University. The main reason I`ve started to l study here is to be among the best of the best. That`s why I`ve worked hard all this time and keep on do it now every day. Step by step, I`ve gained knowledge and according to this new information, I changed the way I achieve my personal goals. I`ve already got a fundamental attainments in studying history of photography, basis of color and light, composition, and the main principles of the journalistic photography. But I`m constantly catching myself thinking - I need more than that. The maximum that is what always has interested me.
Nowadays there are a lot of photographers all over the world. And all of them are permanently making photos. Google, Yahoo, Facebook and others are full of images now and their number is increasing so fast, that a visual information of every type is more than enough. The only way to make a stand is to be a real professional and possess specific skills.
I`ve convinced from my own experience that the people are the best source of information and knowledge. And there is no better than communication with people of the foreign countries, because they have their own special look on the life. Very often they can be much more interesting and useful, than a whole stack of abstruse books. Photography is not only a theory, but also a practice. And for me it`s a very important to adopt smb's practices. Of course, hand in hand with it should go the personal searching and ideas of the projects. But successful photography is a teamwork.
Every professional journalist, especially photojournalist, should explore different point of view to be sure that his judgment is correct. Fortunately, photo can`t lie, even if you try to transform or misinterpret the reality.
One shot is a matter of seconds, but this decisive moment contains all your thoughts and feelings you`ve ever suffered. It is almost impossible to believe that 60% of the work of photographer is just preparing for the shooting. And only 15% is straight shooting. It`s fantastic! The remaining part of the work is the most crucial and, of course, the most hard – to make a selection of all that was shot. Sometimes it can take many months or years to learn this. Henri Cartier-Bresson said once that «To take a photograph is to align the head, the eye and the heart. It`s a way of life». And the Maestro was absolutely right.
