PERSONAL STATEMENT

STUDY STATEMENT
I’ll like to introduce myself as, XX XX XX. I am a young vibrant and futuristic Nigerian youth who believes so much in the power of good academics to survive a generation filled with intellectual competition as ours and holistic to ignorance. I am a Civil engineering graduate with 2 years work experience in structures and construction field, am now looking forward to explore and take up a new challenge in the Highway Engineering and Construction field.

I initially experienced structural building amid work involvement with a neighborhood firm in year, 2008. Whilst there, I was propelled by the chance to apply my current abilities to genuine issues, and therefore chose to be a professional in Civil Engineering field. During the short period of time spent there, I worked closely with qualified engineers on a 4 bedroom semi-detached duplex project and relished the chance to become fully involved in engineering problem. I also experienced how to manage a project, and how to make record of daily inventory. Having enjoyed the short period of time spent at the construction site, I went ahead to change my course from Science Laboratory Technology (Initial course offered to me by the university) to Civil Engineering after my first year at the higher institution.

In June, 2011, I had a 6 months internship with another building and construction firm. Whilst there, I experienced the basis of building a structure, procedure and precautions to undertake during construction. I learnt about the importance of good design and planning by having to interpret the designs to the artisans. It was a great experience to shoot and transfer levels, supervise and coordination of workers on site for maximum work output.
In addition to my experience in university, I am in process of winding up a 4 bedroom semi-detached duplex project with less supervision from my senior engineers. Having shared my experience so far in handling of structures, I am now looking forward to explore a new branch of Civil Engineering. I have special interest in road engineering and am looking forward to have better knowledge of road engineering design and construction.

When it came to picking which university to request, I had a couple of criteria as a main priority, for example, expansive grounds, energizing social scene and a well-recognized institution. Your university ticked these cases. Different focuses that attracts me to your organization was the differing qualities of your programs, the way your Institution is a standout amongst the most appreciated in the nation.

I accept that I have the excitement and genuine enthusiasm for civil engineering that will make me a suitable contender for this course.
