Personal Statement
Hi everyone,
I am 26 and currently applying for a study abroad program. I'm already done but having problems with one paragraph. Maybe someone could tell me if my vocabulary/grammar is correct? Any improvements are welcome.

In 2006 I saw the chances of a growing market in drywall construction, left AD-Plan GmbH and became self-employed. In 2004 Poland joined the European Union. On January 2005 the Act on the General Freedom of Movement for EU Citizens took effect. I had friends in Poland who worked in construction for years. I decided to bring them to Germany.
I worked very hard during the first year, establishing a reliable and solvent customer base. After the first year, business was doing well, I worked with up to five subcontractors and made a turnover of 117.000,00 € in my second year in business.
At this time I went back to complete my A-Level. It was a tough time. I worked from six p.m. to 4 a.m. rushed back to my apartment and then to school. Evening classes ended usually at half past nine. Afterwards I prepared materials and tools for the next day.
