Personal question#2

1. In spoken English, do we speak in the objective or subjective form

What is the proper way to speak in public?

2. Are these sentence in the Active voice or Passive voice?

Are these correct setences? Can i speak like this in public?

a. Malabar Branch library is holding a book for you.

One book is being held for you.

b.The floor plans should be drawn to scale. (Is this the correct way not mention a particular person? can you give some examples.)

In the pervious sentence, is it correct to use "you" without knowing whom or how many people I ( is it I OR we (people in general))am referring to?

You should draw the plans to scale.

c. What pronoun do I use?

Archi, these are all fine.

2a is active voice, but "One book is being held" is passive.

2b is passive. If you don't know that the person you are speaking to is the person who will be drawing the plans, the passive is fine. You could also say "The person who draws the plans must draw them to scale."

2c is fine - What pronoun do I use? so is "What pronoun is used?"
