Personal pronoun for monster?

Hi,

Do you use it or he/she to refer to a monster?

And if the monster is one that is not talking, just going here and there and behaving rather like an animal?

If it is humanoid,'he', unless it reveals obviously female characteristics (like laying eggs), when it is 'she'. If it is an amorphous blob or seemingly lower life form, then 'it'. 'It' also if it is humanoid and hermaphroditic.
