Personal alliance

Hello, everybody,

I have question about this "personal alliances" in the conversation below.

What is the "personal alliances" ? I found sereval definitions for "alliance" here:

But I do not know which definition is suitable for this "personal alliances", I mean,
in this context, is "personal alliances" a relationship of association of people with
common aims, or is it a relationship created by marriage between the families ?

  • My feeling is that more weight would be assigned to close relationships, such as friendships, in which a committment and trust has grown over a period of time, than to coincidental relationships where people may be thrown together by circumstances but fail to develop a bond.
  • I assume that alliances with "important people" would be valued as they are in our society, but again, I think substantial alliances with less important people would be valued above shallow alliances with important people.
