Persistent with

A young man with a lot of problems is seeing a psychologist. One time he doesn't show up to their appointment. The psychologist seeks out the young man at his home address to talk to him and make sure he's okay. The young man says:

Young man: Are you always so persistent with your clients?

Psychologist: Only the ones I think I can help.

Hi. Is the young man's question natural and will it be understood what he means? Also is it 'persistent with'?
