Perplexing sentences

1- ..........show(s) how a living thing will develop.

a) Genetic engineering b) Genes c) Cells

2- Have they ......where the new school will be built?

a) determined b) decided c) divided

3- If he had ......a seat belt, he wouldn't have been injured .

a) worn b) been wearing c) wore

4- The fire grew quickly because it ......for many years.

a) hadn't rained b) wasn't raining

My answers

1- Genes 2- Both A & B are OK 3- Both A & B are OK 4- I go for 'a', but I think the sentence itself is not grammatically correct.
