Perplexing questions

Choose the correct answer:

1- She is exhausted. She ……fall down.

  1. a) is going to b) will

*My answer: is going to

I chose "going to" because "exhausted" is a temporary adjective. I learnt that if there is a temporary adjective describing a noun, we use "going to" and not "will". Is that right?

2- My brother is clever. He …….come first.

  1. a) will b) is going to

My answer is : will

I chose "will" because "clever" is a permanent quality.

3- Tom studies hard. He ……..succeed.

  1. a) will b) is going to

My answer is : is going to

I choose "going to" because there is an evidence. Is it possible to use "will" here?

4- If you study hard, you…..succeed.

  1. a) will b) are going to

My answer is: will

I chose "will" but I wonder if I could use "going to" in this sentence.

For native speakers, there is no absolutely clear dividing line between "going to" and "will." Many times they are interchangeable, depending on the context and situation.

These are equally possible.

1- She is exhausted. She …will... fall down.
1- She is exhausted. She …is going to... fall down.

This sentence is not natural English.

2- My brother is clever
