PERMISSIVE PARENTING ( IELTS Writing Task 2)

I appreciate any advice to help me improve my essay.

Some parents buy their children whatever they ask for, and allow their children to do whatever they want, Is this a good way to raise children? What consequences could this style of parenting have for children as they get older?

It is quite common that some parents provide their offspring with everything they ask for and allow too much freedom for them. In my point of view, this style of parenting isn't the right way to bring up children and it may lead to negative outcomes.

This overly relaxed approach to parenting, called permissive parenting, has no regulation or rules, spoils children dreadfully and is inferior compared to authoritative parenting. This is the best method of raising children in my opinion because authoritative parents are reasonable and responsible as well as have realistic expectations of their children. They tend to utilize fair discipline, which means rewarding when children obey and explaining their bad behaviors before punishing them. Parents with authoritative parenting are role models for their children owing to their nurturing and disciplined personality, thus children with this type of parents will grow up into self-disciplined and motivated young adults who are able to achieve enormous success.

In contrast with authoritative parenting, indulgent parenting has long-term negative consequences on children's personalities and their lives. The first and most harmful outcome is that children will become young adults without any emotional understanding and sympathy for people around them, which leads to their inability to work in groups and form long-lasting friendships. Their demanding and impatience personality, caused by the indulgent method of parenting, will result in laziness, dependence on their family and not academically motivated. Moreover, due to limited guidance from their parents in their childhood, these young adults will struggle with self-regulation and be unable to deal with emotionally difficult situation.

In conclusion, children needs to be taught to be independent and self-disciplined while permissive parenting brings about opposing outcomes.
