Permission

Hi,

Is there any difference between these two sentences? Number 2 is mine.

1. I know you are going to take it anyway, so I might as well give you permission.

2. I know you are going to take it anyway, so I might as well give you the permission.

No need for the "the." I suppose if you wrote "give you the permission to do so" it might work better, but what does it add?

I suggest leaving it out.
