Period or Question Mark?

I am trying to figure out if the following sentence should use a period or question mark at the end. My English textbook says that a period should be used when making a courteous request, since you are needing a reaction. However, the sentence just looks weird with a period. Help, please?

"Will your company charge extra for shipping special orders?" (That's how I think it should be.)

Hi, It's a question, so you need a question mark. You could also write it thus. Please let me know if your company charges extra for shipping special orders.
