, Period?

What does that mean when someone ends a sentence with the word "PERIOD"?

I am not sure if it is only me who notice that very often these days, or it has already been there for a long.

Can you please tell what does that mean?

If I use the word PERIOD in a sentence, that means that I intend to end the conversation and would not accept further buts. It can sometimes be attached to being upset or irritated.

Hi,

It's an informal way of stressing the end of a sentence, or more often the end of a discussion.

eg, No, I will not marry you. PERIOD

It's more often found in speaking than in writing.
