A certain company send a message to me, dropping a period of a sentence that ends with '.com'.

I suppose they don't want customers to think their email address inclues the last period.

But is it correct to place a period after 'com' in this case?

Thanks.

They should put a period as it marks the end of a sentence, but, as you said, they left that out, fearing some people might think the period is a part of the email address. Do people still think like that? I still can't help laughing when I recall that when the CDs first came installed on computers, there were people who realy thought the CD tray was a coffee cup holder!

Maybe, they sometimes accidentally include the last period when they copy and paste it into the address box of a email software!

I think that's the reason.

Thanks for your comment, Cbsteh.

It is correct to place the period after the email, but after the quotation mark( '.)

I write for a blog site and when doing the hyperlinks I just make sure I highlight only the part necessary to be included so the link will work.

So, yes, it should be there, but with care.
