Perhaps out of sheer privacy...

Hi

Do you find the underlined phrases natural/OK in spoken English?

[In our culture it's common to change the mobile number to avoid unwanted contacts]

A - Why do you think she changes her cell phone number so frequently?
B - Perhaps out of sheer privacy.

* She keeps changing her cell phone number out of privacy.

Thanks,

Tom

Not quite. 'Out of a/the (sheer) need for privacy.'

I agree with MrM.

I also hear things like "Perhaps out of [sheer] privacy considerations," where "privacy" functions as an adjective.

This is a more general statement, and can lead to further explanations,
possibly involving more than one such "consideration."

(Fourteen million Google hits for the collocation "privacy considerations.")
