Perhaps I was born older

John: Though you are of my age you still look older. Why?
Michael: Perhaps I was born older.

Is the above conversation correct? I believe the line said by Michael was correct. He was using comparative degree of old though there was nothing there in the sentence to compare with. The part than other children which clarifies the comparison is understood Perhaps I was born older than other children and there is no need to mention it. Am I correct?

Michael is joking. He is saying that perhaps since he was born, he has always looked older than his own age. That's because he was born a long time before he was born.

Hi Alphecca,

I would have written: That's because he was born a long time ago before he was born. Is my way also correct? Or is it that you missed

Hi,
Yes.
Things are commonly understood rather than uttered.

eg The mother gives each of her two sons a piece of cake.
Son A: Mine's bigger!
Son B: That's not fair!

My take on it is essentially the same as Clive's.
-- Though you are of my age, you still look older than me. Why?
-- Perhaps I was born looking older than you.

Hi,

A small further comment about Though you are of my age.

This is not wrong, but a much more common way to say it is
Though you are the same age as me.
