performative utterance

I've read in a grammar book that the phrase "you're fired!" is used more often in comic-strips than in real life. The book doesn't offer a more detailed explanation. It simply says that the passive form of performative verbs is rarely used and gives only one example, as cited above. could you help me, please? thank you.
