I have learned that you have to say: give a concert or perform in a concert. But, according the online dictionary http://www.cambridgedictionary.org if you look up the verb "to perform", you will see a list of examples using this verb. You can find some more examples under the heading "More Examples". One example under this heading is given below.
(ex) The orchestra is to perform its last ever concert tomorrow night at the Albert Hall.
There is no "in" after the verb, perform. Why is that? Please explain this. Thanks a lot.
