Grammar

perfect tense

so can someone tell me the correct ways of using have/had/has?
---------------------------------------------------------------
I heard that its used for an action that happened before another action.
for example would this be right

"John became the first to fly over the Atlantic, when he had flew over the Atlantic" (dont mind the redundancy)
"John was the first to fly over the Atlantic, after he had flew over the Atlantic".

"John became the first to fly over the Atlantic, when he had flew over the Atlantic"

John flew first, thten became the first, so Dont i need a perfect tense there?

Perhaps, with less repetition:

"John became instantly famous, after he had flown across the Atlantic."

but you can also use tense simplification in the subordinate, with:

"John became instantly famous, after he flew
