1) If instead of 'was' there were 'a,' it would be Ok right?
2) If instead of 'have' it were 'had' it would be OK right?

To me , the only thing is there should be "whether" instead of "if", although the "if" form is common use

I never put a period (on purpose) at the end of my sentences here (well at least I try), just to keep the conversation open

Why isn't 'if' possible here? They mean the same here, don't they?

Yes, the 'if' is fine, Maverick.

2) If instead of 'have' it were 'had' it would be OK right?

JTT: I don't understand what you mean. Please clarify this.

Normally, "if" is for condition:
If the weather's fine tomorrow, we'll have a long walk

Reported speech:
"Will you be there tomorrow?"
< "I was/am wondering whether you'll be there tomorrow"

"whether" has no meaning of condition, it's just used in a yes/no question in the reported speech

1) If instead of 'was' there were 'AM,' it would be Ok right? {typo}

Is this OK?:
I AM wondering if you have read this book

2) I was wonder

They both sound OK to me.

Hmm...
JTT wrote that I forgot the period. Did you, JTT, mean to add 'ever' or 'for X last years' or smth like that? If yes so I think there's an implicit period here 'ever' because if I didn't specify it refers to from ever till now.
Is that the point?

Mav,
If I may speak for JTT (I wonder whether I may...), there was no "." period, full stop, whatever at the end of the sentence...
