Hi,
Could someone please answer my question about participle prases?
I see sometimes “as S do” is added to participle phrases as an emphasis.
“Living as he did in remote countryside, he seldom came up to town.”
I see also “Having + past participle“ is used when we want to say that one action is followed by another.
“Having left his purse at home, he can’t buy the flowers.”
My question is,
can we add “as S do” to the last sentence, and if so, is it
“Having left as he did his purse at home, he can’t buy the flowers.” ?
Also, if the tense of the above sentence is like this below, does it make any difference?
“Having left his purse at home, he couldn’t buy the flowers”
= As he had left his purse at home he couldn’t buy the flowers.
“Having left as he had(??) his purse at home....” ?
Thank you in advance!
