Vocabulary

per se

Hi, everyone:

"I've never designed religious leaflets, per se.1:00. Great, Rabbi.Thank you so much"

This is a line from the movie "Duplex", and the actress Nancy is speaking on the phone to make an appointment for her job.

I 've consulted the dictionary, it said 'per se' means 'in itself', I still quite understand the meaning of the sentence.

Could you please help me?

Top answer

Hi, I've never designed religious leaflets, per se. Nancy has never designed religious leaflets, but she has designed something similar to religious leaflets. Best wishes, Clive

Hi,

per se seems to be Italian, and meaning in itself, indeed.
