Per cent

I have problems with this sentence. Can you please help me sort it out?

Using TWG technique the chest tube tip was located on previously planned position in 79% cases compared to the 30 % when using CS technique.

1. Is it Ok to say "79% cases"? Shouldn't OF be used here?

2. Is "compared to" Ok in this sentence? Is the sentence correct?

Thank you
