Pejorative connotations

Hi

Is this dialogue natural? Any suggestion is welcome.

"Love!" He turned away his face. She couldn't help but notice the clear indignation in his tone.
"You don't want to talk about love?"
"Well, the word has a lot of pejorative connotation for me. No, I don't ever want to talk about love. As the saying goes, once bitten twice shy."

Thanks,

Tom
