PEG SOMEONE FOR (is that natural?)

Could you please tell me if this is natural and something a native might say?

- I didn't think you'd be the type of person to do that.

- I didn't peg you for the the of person who would do that.

Hi -- This is how I would use it:

"I wouldn't peg him for a gambler." (But apparently he is.)

or - "I wouldn't peg him as the shady type."

The first sentence is fine. You have two of the word "the" in the second sentence. It should read, "I didn't peg you for the type of person who would do that."

I think the second sentence would sound more natural to me if it read, "I never pegged you as the type of person who would do that."
