Payment terms=account period??

Hi,

We know that payment terms refers to a period that starts from the seller delivering the goods to the buyer making payment. But now our payment terms is on FOB basis, so the the period should be reckoned from the invoice date. So I would like to confirm that is account period is the best word to inform the buyer that the calculation of the account period has been corrected. (Although payment term is universal, but it sounds like a condition, not a period literally. )

PS:I would like to know the exact term for that payment terms/period.

Thanks very much!

Someone in the industry should advise you on this. My impression on first reading your post was that "term" is misused. When we talk about "terms" in connection with accounts and credit, I think of conditions, as you say.

  • Of course, "terms" is used here in the plural, while you're talking about a term .
  • To be honest, as a consumer, I've never heard it that way.
