Sometimes they say, "I made payments." (also very casual)

The only formal expression I can think of is "I bought it on the installment plan."

Perhaps someone else can come up with one.

Most fixed-term loans are assumed to have regular payments of a set amount every month.

You don't need to spell it out for anyone -- it would be assumed.

I think only bank executives and drug dealers pay cash. Emotion: rolleyes

The British might say "I bought it on hire purchase." I think I have heard it used as a verb also: I hire purchased it. I can't guarantee the correctness of that, though. I native British speaker is needed to verify that.

Cool BreezeI hire purchased it.
That sure is a strange one!

Do you think we should hire purchase a bar somewhere between here and there?

The usual verb is 'finance': "I financed my car", meaning I took out some sort of loan to pay for it which is repayable by instalments.

You have extremely good suggestions, Avangi![Y] We can do that, or you can fly over and we'll down a few in my local.
