Pay rent on a car?

Hi

'I have to pay rent on/for my car'

I'm guessing that 'rent' can be used in the same way as 'tax', therefore you pay rent on something, right?

Thanks!

Do you mean that you rented a car for a short period? eg a day? eg a week?
