pastoral skills

Hi,
in an application form for a job with kids I came across a question if I have pastoral skills. I know what the words 'pastoral' and 'skills' mean but does the phrase 'pastoral skills' have some non literal meaning? (I somehow can't believe they're asking me if I can preach and stuff Emotion: smile

I think this goes back to the original meaning of pastoral, tending a flock. Can you tend to the kids like a shepard looks after his flock?

Hi

Your employer may want to know how you deal with such things as...

- the kids drinking or smoking
- their being involved with other drugs; or with other crime
- a kid using a wheelchair, or needing medication during the school day
- whether they're being abused at home
- what if a child is being bullied by the others
- whether they're entitled to other cons
