I have some troubles putting a thought into a sentence with the right tenses and I hope someone here will ease my mind ![]()
So, the situation is following: Years ago, when my sister was studying English pronunciation, being the introvert that she is, she knew she was always saying one sound wrong ("th" actually) but she never asked if the sound she was making was correct. And I'm trying to figure out how I'd build a sentence about that with the correct choice of past tenses. (sorry, i don't know if i even used the right tenses in my description)
The sentence I want you to help me with looks something like this: "You had always known you were pronouncing it wrong, yet you had never asked if you were doing it properly."
If I had said that sentence to her, would I have used the correct tenses?
Thank you so much!
"If I had said that sentence to her, would I have used the correct tenses? There is no call for past perfect. You always knew you were pronouncing it wrong, yet you never asked if you were doing it properly.
