Past tense with try

Someone's having a computer problem. They're asking me for help (I am good with computers). I ask:

"Did you try to restart your computer?"

OR

"Have you tried to restart your computer?"

I can say either one with correctness, right?

Yes, both are correct and appropriate. (Personally, I would use "Have you tried".)
