Past tense vs Past participle

Is there any difference between saying "Had I knew you were here at 8 AM, I would come earlier" and "Had I known that you were here at 8 AM, I would have come earlier"?. By the way, I apologize if "Had I knew you were here at 8 AM, I would come earlier" is grammatically absurd!
